The Greater Fremont Economic Development Council is excited to continue our Small Business Education Series, designed to empower and equip local businesses with essential knowledge and skills. The Series provides small business owners and professionals a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights and skills to help their businesses thrive. Attendees can network with other small business owners, learn from experts, and gain valuable knowledge they can immediately apply to their businesses.

Upcoming Session Details

July 16th @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm: Creating Successful Internships: In today's competitive job market, internships serve as a critical bridge between academic learning and professional experience. This session will delve into the key elements of creating internships that are valuable for students and beneficial for businesses. Our esteemed panel of experts includes:

  • Todd Hansen, Metro Community College: Todd brings a wealth of experience in higher education and workforce development, offering practical advice on structuring internships that provide meaningful learning experiences.
  • Taylor Tucker, Midland University: Taylor's career services and student development expertise will provide insights into matching student skills with business needs to create mutually beneficial internships.
  • Rose Baker, NE Department of Economic Development: Rose will discuss the economic impact of internships and share best practices for ensuring internships contribute to the local economy and workforce development.

In partnership with the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, this session aims to provide businesses with the tools and knowledge to design and implement successful internship programs, ultimately fostering a stronger connection between educational institutions and the business community.

Future Sessions

In addition to the July 16th session, the Small Business Education Series will feature two more valuable sessions later this year:

October 15th @ 11:45 am—1:00 pm: Tax Prep:  Partnering again with the Fremont Area Chamber, this session will cover essential tax preparation tips and strategies to help small businesses navigate the complexities of tax season. Stay tuned for more details as the date approaches.

October 24th: QuickBooks Training: The exact timing for this session is to be determined, but it will be an all-day session beginning in the morning and ending mid-afternoon. This hands-on training will focus on maximizing the use of QuickBooks, a vital tool for managing business finances. Whether you're a seasoned user or new to the software, this session will offer practical guidance to enhance your financial management skills.

The QuickBooks session has a small fee. Free lunch is included in all the sessions. We encourage all local businesses to take advantage of these opportunities to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge.
